DIDIVA connects job seekers to STEM careers

The Virginia Manufacturers Association (VMA) and Dream It. Do It. Virginia (DIDIVA) began a partnership with the Virginia Space Grant Consortium in 2012, when its new statewide initiative, the Commonwealth STEM Industry Internship Program (CSIIP), was launched.  As part of its partnership, CSIIP has focused one in its series of webinars, titled Advanced Science and Technology Career Exploration, on the new DIDIVA Career Information System, providing a step-by-step guide through the free web-based career exploration resource. The DIDIVA webinar highlights the CIS found at, advanced technology career opportunities in Virginia, and the importance these industries have not only to Virginia’s economy but also to its global competitiveness.  There are many opportunities for STEM degree graduates and otherwise trained and certified individuals to fill employment opportunities in these advanced technology industries, like manufacturing.  Please view the complete webinar here: Advanced Science and Technology Webinar “DIDIVA is a network created by industry in order to drive the next generation of employees to career opportunities in manufacturing.  Many people don’t think of manufacturing as having STEM-related careers. They have an image of manufacturing that is really decades old and doesn’t reflect today’s manufacturing and the opportunities that are available,” said Alice Scott, State Director of Dream It. Do It. Virginia. Dream It. Do It. Virginia launched a new integrated Career Information System (CIS) this year.  The CSIIP webinar features the DIDIVA “one stop” career resource, which is free and available to the public to help aid in career exploration, link people to job opportunities, demonstrate how to “budget your life”, offer online skills and interest assessments, create a professional portfolio of resumes, and more. The CIS allows for an interactive experience through five channels, “Explore, Ready, Train, Assess and Employ”, that provide free access to programs throughout the Commonwealth to support individuals in pursuit of advanced technology careers. CSIIP has produced a series of webinars to help its summer interns develop job skills and explore workplace opportunities in STEM fields, like manufacturing and other advanced technology fields prevalent in Virginia.  CSIIP is designed to help develop Virginia’s future STEM talent in collaboration with accredited universities, colleges and community colleges in the state of Virginia.  Their free web-based system, found at, was created to help students and businesses to connect for summer internship opportunities.
