Good afternoon,

You are cordially invited to
join us on Friday, May 10, from 8:00 am to 11:00 am (Plecker Workforce Center,
Building P, Room P-126) for our Manufacturing/Trades Summit.  A
continental breakfast will be provided.

  • To help facilitate the conversation about industry needs and workforce trends, we ask you to bring copies of Job Descriptions for the top five positions that you find most difficult to fill within your organization.

The Commonwealth of Virginia, through the
Virginia Community College System, recently awarded Blue Ridge Community
College a $303,583 grant as part of a broad initiative to provide students
greater access to post-secondary education and training for high-demand
careers.  The “G3” (“Get Skilled, Get a Job, Give Back”) grant enables the
college to further enhance and expand existing programs and pathways for
in-demand careers in our region in the fields of Information
Technology/Computer Science, Healthcare, Manufacturing and Trades, Public
Safety, and Early Childhood Education. This grant funding also affords our
students the opportunity to give back through community service
partnerships. The funds are part of $5.1 million in Workforce Innovation and
Opportunity Act the state has set aside for each of the twenty-three Virginia
community colleges.

In response to this opportunity,
Blue Ridge Community College has organized a series of Summits that will bring
regional advisory committees, key Shenandoah Valley employers and other
stakeholders together as we consider existing and perhaps new curriculum to
directly address industry employment needs.

With your participation we are
confident that educational innovations such as *G3 will improve the quality of
life for all Virginians throughout the Shenandoah Valley and with your support,
we will meet and exceed those expectations as we continue serving the
educational needs of our students in Virginia’s expanding workforce.

We encourage your participation
and collaboration.  Please
RSVP by Friday, May 3, 2019, using the link below:

Thanking you in advance for your
time and consideration.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to me if you
have any questions.

With Best Regards,
