VMA Joins ENERGY STAR Industrial Assistance Network
RICHMOND, VA – Today, the Virginia Manufacturers Association and the Manufacturing Skills Institute announced that they will join in promoting the ENERGY STAR Industrial Assistance Network (IAN) to manufacturers in Virginia. ENERGY STAR, managed by the U.S. EPA, is focused on the energy efficiency of manufacturing plants, products, homes, and buildings. The ENERGY STAR IAN provides training for small and medium manufacturers to improve energy management, secure cost savings, and sustain the energy performance of their operations.
“The VMA and MSI have joined the ENERGY STAR IAN to help improve manufacturing competitiveness by providing training and resources that help reduce energy costs through gains in energy efficiency,” said VMA President and CEO Brett Vassey. “It is also our intention to challenge Region 3 manufacturers to compete for ENERGY STAR’s Plant Certification.”
The ENERGY STAR IAN program will focus on training, tools, networking, and coaching. Services to manufacturers include:
- Finding savings through increased operational energy efficiency;
- Reducing greenhouse gas emissions;
- Learning from a local network of supportive industrial energy managers; and
- Expanding professional skills of plant personnel
The core of the program in Virginia will be the eight-week ENERGY STAR IAN online energy management training course and the four-week MSI Certified Industrial Energy Auditor certificate. These programs will provide individuals with the tools for measuring energy management programs, and companies with the structure to sustain a culture of effective long-term energy efficiency.
