The Manufacturing Skills Institute (MSI) provides relevant education, skills training, and certifications for careers in advanced manufacturing by offering world-class training programs delivered by MSI and MSI Academic Partners. Through the partnership between industry and education, employers set the skill standards for MSI program offerings to ensure learning is linked to employment and career advancement opportunities.

MSI provides programs in advanced technology and automation aligned to manufacturers skills needs. Courses are taught by instructors with professional experiences in manufacturing to ensure knowledge and skill transfer from the classroom.

We offer industry-wide, technical skills certifications. The MS and MT1 credentials are endorsed by the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) and are included in the NAM-endorsed Manufacturing Institute.

MSI Award & Recognition Program

MSI presents two awards annually: the MSI Fellow Award  and, in partnership with the Virginia Manufacturers Association, the VMA Chairman’s Safety Award . We also recognize members of our esteemed Peer Committee.

MSI FELLOW AWARD

An MSI Fellow has active experience in workforce development, supports at least one MSI credential,  OR has attained distinction in manufacturing-related disciplines.

MSI Peer Committee

The MSI Peer Committee is composed of subject matter experts, instructors, engineers, and scientists who assist with the development and review of training and assessment materials. This committee meets ad hoc and members offer their time and talents as a service to manufacturing community. Membership in this prestigious group is by invitation only.
