The Virginia DEQ Air Permitting Certificate is intended for environmental professionals responsible for air quality permitting and compliance. This comprehensive program, a collaboration with DEQ, VMA, and MSI, covers key topics including Clean Air Act and state/district regulatory requirements, air permitting concepts and processes for construction and operating permits, and streamlining compliance management tasks. Participants will gain insights into federal air quality regulations and the regulatory process overview, the 1970 and 1977 Clean Air Act Amendments, and Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) with BACT control technology analyses. The course also covers air quality analyses, the 1990 Clean Air Act Amendments, Virginia air quality regulations and programs, Virginia construction permits, Synthetic Minor/Title V operating permits, and updates on current regulatory issues. The DEQ online assessment test for certificate acknowledgment is included.

Once the course registration has been completed, you will receive your course log-in credentials within 24 hours of payment receipt and may access the online courses or administrative reports immediately afterward. 

Certificate Overview: 

Upon successful completion of the Virginia DEQ Air Permitting Certificate program and passing the open book test, individuals can print a certificate of program completion. This certificate does not have an end date and can be highlighted to show DEQ that staff is adequately trained and experienced. By applying the comprehensive knowledge gained, professionals can proactively manage air permitting processes, ensuring compliance and preventing regulatory issues before they arise.
